Apart from sleepless nights of course, there is nothing more challenging than trying to choose a name for your baby, especially when you and your partner can't seem to agree on any.

So if you are currently trying to think of one for your little boy or girl, then the release of the UK's top 100 baby names will delight you.

According to the Office for National Statistics, Oliver and Amelia were the most popular names given to babies born in England and Wales last year, and unsurprisingly given its royal connection, George rose three places to take the seventh position.

According to the report, 6,649 baby boys born last year were called Oliver with some 5,327 girls named Amelia, a name that has been number one in England since 2011.

Both Poppy and Ava moved up two places to nab the fifth and sixth positions while Jessica and Sophie both dropped in popularity.

There were three new entries in the boys' category with Ellis taking the 94th spot, Joey the 97th and Jackson the 100th.
