If you cook even once or twice a week, your stove-top and hobs are getting good use, and stains and grime can really sneak up on you.

Conventional stove-tops and hobs are famously difficult to clean. With their shape, size, and all those caked on stains, all the elbow-grease in the world seem like it's going to waste.

But don’t despair - here are three easy ways to make your stove-top sparkle.

1. Boiling water
Boil a kettle of water and gently pour it over the surface. If you let it sit until it becomes cool, the tougher stuff will just wipe away.

2. Salt
This is great for big messes and stains. Pour salt on the stain before it really dries in, and leave it while you have your meal. Salt absorbs most of the liquid, making your clean-up super simple.

3. Oil
Pour a little olive or vegetable oil out onto your stove, and with a cloth, use the oil to remove the caked on messes. Then spray it down with all-purpose cleaner for a great shine. This works well on the hood of your stove too.
