35-year-old woman arrested in connection with murder of toddler Santina Cawley

A 35-year-old female was arrested this morning in connection with the murder of a two-year-old infant girl.

The woman is expected to appear before Cork District Court, Anglesea St, Cork at 10.30am this morning, Wednesday, August 21 2019.

Cork toddler Santina Cawley was found with severe injuries at the Elderwood flat complex on the Boreenmanna Road in Cork on July 5. The toddler was rushed to hospital but sadly passed away shortly afterwards.

A postmortem confirmed the young girl was murdered, but the details of her injuries were not released.

The young girl was laid to rest on July 12.
