Considering a dog is a huge part of family life, it is not surprising that many brides (or even grooms) want their pooch to have a starring role in their wedding.
However, before you head out to buy the bow tie or mini veil, consider the following six things to ensure everyone enjoys the day.
1. Is your pooch welcome at your chosen venue?
When booking your venue, ask if dogs are allowed – you’ll be heartbroken if you arrive with your dog only to be told they're not allowed in.
2. Are they toilet trained?
The last thing you'll want to do in your lovely white gown is pick up dog poo... Either make sure they go beforehand or have someone ready with a pooper scooper.
3. How hyperactive are they?
If your furry friend is a tad hyperactive, you'll need to really think about how they'll feel being in a room full of people that they won't be able to play with.
4. Will someone be able to watch them?
You won't be able to relax if you know either you or your partner will have to take the dog for a quick walk or even outside to go to the toilet. If you can, assign a babysitter for them so that you can enjoy your day.
5. Will you be okay if they don't cooperate?
Everyone knows not to work with children or animals because NOTHING ever goes according to plan! If you know you'll be devastated if they refuse to walk down the aisle, maybe you should thinking about leaving them at home.
6. Do they actually want to be there?
While it might be important for you to have your pet dog at your wedding, you also need to consider whether they will actually enjoy themselves. Only you know their personality and whether they will enjoy the day - don't bring them if they will be either frightened or frustrated.
