In an age where news can go viral in a matter of minutes, we have seen false reports regarding everything from pregnancies to deaths spreading online like wild fire. Now, one star has been forced to address claims regarding her state of health.

Actress Valerie Harper, best known for her roles in Rhoda and The Mary Tyler-Moore Show, has denied rumours that she fell into a coma following a backstage incident.

The 75-year-old mother-of-one took to Facebook late last night to play down reports that had been circulating online.

“My dear friends and fans! As always, thank you for your mazing support. I am happy to report I am not, nor have I been, in a coma. As anyone who has taken strong medication knows, it doesn’t always agree with you, even with me as this experience proves,” she wrote.

The star added: “I am confronting these hurdles with my usual enthusiasm and love of life. Much love, Valerie.”

Proving that her epic sense of humour hasn’t changed a bit, Valerie went on to say: “I must confess that the highlight of this ordeal came when I was escorted by two handsome young men and a pilot, in a medivac helicopter as the full moon lit the sky. Talk about movie magic!”
