Being in the public eye may seem glamorous - and parts of it certainly are - but there's a dark side to it.

While the rise of our digital age has meant that we get a closer glimpse into the lives of the rich and famous, the constant scrolling does mean we can frequently criticise and critique - and not in the most positive of ways.

Cyberbullying is hugely prevalent and for women in the public eye, there seems to be no end to the constant barrage of comments and judgment. It's impossible to win; you're lauded for achievements and then quickly torn down for them or scorned for defying the 'norm' - whatever that may be.

Actress Helen George is the latest public figure to speak out after being subjected to body shaming from online trolls.

The popular Call The Midwife star had a dignified response for a troll who made the cruel comment that she should "be put on a diet".

The 33-year-old was pregnant with her first child while filming Call the Midwife, and after scenes aired over the weekend, one viewer took to Twitter cruelly comment on her appearance: "Helen George is massive. She should be put on a diet. #callthemidwife." After receiving a backlash from other viewers, he continued: "Mmm, obviously used [pregnancy] as an excuse to gain all them chins."

Helen was quick to respond, writing: "Sorry if my chins offended you, I chose to feed my baby healthily and not starve myself in a selfish act to look good on TV. Would you say this to a pregnant lady's face? You should look on pregnant ladies' multiple chins with love, they are busy making the future x."

The actress' fans rallied around her, with her tweet amassing more than 28 thousand likes and over 3,000 comments, showing that the Internet can be a source of hope and comfort, even during the darker times.

Well done Helen for showing those trolls how it's done!
