She and her husband were left heartbroken and devastated after the loss of their son in 2013, and now Irish actress Leigh Arnold has opened up on what the tragic experience has taught her about life.

Leigh, whose son Flynn lost his life to cot death at just two weeks old, has opened up on family life after her loss to VIP magazine this month.

The Clinic star, who is mum to three-year-old son Hunter with husband Steve Davies, admitted that she has developed a ‘hard’ exterior in the aftermath of her family’s devastation.

“You realise what matters and who matters in life. I don’t like being hard but I’ve become a bit hard. When you hear people crying ‘I’m so depressed because I haven’t got a boyfriend…’ Oh for God’s sake! This isn’t a problem! You have the power to change this. I don’t have the power to bring my son back,” said the 35-year-old.

Since her heartbreaking loss, the star has become a patron of FirstLight, an organisation which offers support to parents who have lost children to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

“I’m doing something for Flynn and in his name and for other children that have died suddenly so they are not forgotten,” she told the magazine.
