Ant McPartlin is taking time off from TV and seeking treatment after being arrested for alleged drink-driving on Sunday.

The presenter was reportedly involved in a collision with two other cars in Richmond, West London while driving his Mini.

The Metropolitan Police said one of the passengers of the cars was a child, The Guardian reports. They explained that the little one was taken to hospital in order to be checked as a precaution.

It is believed that Ant was arrested after failing a roadside breathalyser test. A spokesperson for the Met noted that he was 'taken to a south London police station for questioning and has since been released under investigation'.

He is now going into treatment, after having been in rehabilitation last year due to a painkiller addiction.

"Ant has decided to go back into treatment and step down from his current TV commitments," a statement from the 42-year-old's publicist read.

"He has spoken with Dec and ITV today and asked for time off for the foreseeable future. As such, Saturday Night Takeaway will not be going ahead this Saturday."

ITV issued a statement saying, "ITV has taken a joint decision with Ant and Dec’s team not to broadcast Saturday Night Takeaway this weekend.

"We will be reviewing options for the last two episodes of the series (31 March and 7 April), which would not feature Ant who is taking time off to seek treatment. We very much hope that he gets the help that he needs."

Regarding the wellbeing of those involved in the collision, a Met spokesperson said: "Officers, London ambulance service and London fire brigade attended, with a number of people being treated at the scene for minor injuries."

We hope that all those involved have a speedy recovery.
