Are you saving enough? What if that rainy day comes sooner than expected?

This is my personal story – but honestly, it could belong to anybody. Three things happened this week.

First, the fridge broke. When I say fridge I mean the freezer, the water dispenser- the works. Then, the washing machine decided that it too had enough of my family’s nonsense. Thirdly, the cherry on top of the cake (or the stone on top of the mud cake made by my 4-year-old): the roof leaked. Storm damage + a rainy day = disaster.

Things come in threes. Or rather they had better come in threes because I really don’t know how we’ll manage if we have another ‘mergency’ (see toddler dictionary) this week. The washing has piled up already. The laundry room, once a sanctuary to escape to with some chocolate and my phone, is now impassable. I don’t even want to know what that liquid coming from the freezer is. I’m trying to see a positive side to the leak. My daughter has found one: asking for her wellies and shouting ‘muddy puddles’ as one begins to form on the floor. At least now, I have an excuse to get the roof painted… something to add to the list of costs on this rainy day.

We all have bad weeks, but what if that ‘rainy day’ comes sooner than expected?
