We doubt Ahmed Mohamed foresaw the publicity his engineering project would garner when he arrived at MacArthur High in south Texas on Monday morning.

The tech-savvy 14-year-old, who simply hoped to receive praise from his peers for the digital clock he had developed, was instead subjected to a police interrogation after a teacher raised suspicion about the teen's project.

Having been searched and questioned by police, Ahmed was led from the school in Irving in handcuffs in an incident which has gained considerable notoriety since its occurance this week.

The teen, who was suspected of carrying an explosive device, has since spoken of his distress following the treatment he received at the hands of school authorities and police officials.

It may buoy the teen, however, to learn that he has one incredibly impressed supporter who would be more than happy to extend an invite to his very famous home.

Taking to Twitter in light of the event, President of the Unites States, Barack Obama, heaped praise upon the teen and requested Ahmed bring his clock to the White House so the president may get a closer look.

Encouraging the teen's love of science and engineering, President Obama wrote: "Cool clock, Ahmed. Want to bring it to the White House? We should inspire more kids like you to like science. It’s what makes America great."

Ahmed, who spent 20 minutes before bedtime assembling the clock for school the following day, was suspended for three days following the event.

Maybe a trip to the White House during that time is in order!
