I have a question about my own health. I am 27 years old. I have always had very regular periods: 28-day cycle lasting five days.

I had my daughter via emergency C-section in September of 2013. The first problem started immediately; I have to urinate quite frequently, I can't seem to hold on for very long. Secondly, my periods have been getting lighter and lighter lasting only a couple of days. I am now rather worried, as I haven't had a period since 9th May.

I get cramps and odd feelings in my lower abdominal area, like the fluttering experienced when pregnant and you start to feel Baby move. The only thing is, I have not been in any sort of intimate relationship since becoming pregnant with my daughter in late 2012, so I am 100% not pregnant.

Every month when I did menstruate, my scar would be very sore. I am worried and wondering what could be causing this. There is a two-week waiting list to see my doctor. Please help!

Dear Emma,
You certainly have a lot going on, and your problems need addressing one by one as they may have different causes.

You may need to get on to doing your pelvic floor exercises, as you need to do them regardless of whether or not you had a Caesarean section. It is unlikely to be a kidney or bladder infection as it is going on so long, but it still needs to be checked.

It is difficult to know why your periods are lighter and you are having pain in your scar.

The feeling of something moving is unusual, but I wonder if you perhaps might be constipated - there can be very few other explanations for this
apart from being pregnant.

You need to be seen by your GP and have all this discussed and looked into. As it has been going on now for many years, it really needs resolving. It is always worth checking online that your smear test is up to date, and this perhaps could be done for you while you await appointment. Check out www.cervicalcheck.ie to see if your test is due.

Best of luck,
