With the royal baby reportedly due very soon, the Royal Mint is keen to mark the big day for the other little ones sharing his or her birthday.

While we already reported that the new prince or princess will be getting a special coin created in their honour, the Mint has decided to do something similar for every baby born on the same day.

Making the announcement on its official Facebook page, The Royal Mint shared a picture of the silver coin that every child born on the same day as the royal baby will receive, and the specially-designed commemorative box it will be packaged in.

A spokeswoman for the Mint said: “It is a fitting gesture to welcome the eagerly anticipated future prince or princess, and also in keeping with an age-old tradition to mark a new birth with a gift of silver for good luck.”

The coin will be minted with the Royal Shield, as traditionally seen on the one penny coin, with the presentation box set to sport a sweet carousel horse.

The Mint did the same for the birth of Prince George, with babies born on his birthday, July 22, entitled to one coin each.

What a sweet idea.
