A newborn baby who was found at a Greenstar recycling plant last week is to be buried today at Redford Cemetary, Greystones at noon.

The youngster, who was named Alannah by Gardaí, was found last Wednesday, and a post-mortem revealed that she had no “deliberate injuries”.

According to reports, investigators have not ruled out the possibility that the little girl was stillborn as it is believed she was carried to full term.

Gardaí have issued an appeal for the mother to come forward and are said to be concerned for her safety.

"I would please ask for the mum to seek immediate medical treatment,” said Superintendent Pat Ward.

“I am available here at Bray Garda Station to help the mum and dad of this baby girl and if they would contact me or Sergeant Sorcha Fitzpatrick here at Bray Garda Station we will deal with any contact, discreetly and sensitively.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call Bray Garda Station on 01 666 5300.
