With the help of paramedics from the Dublin Fire Brigade, a healthy baby girl made her grand entrance into this world on Dublin's M50 motorway during the night.

According to emerging reports, an ambulance was called to Junction 4 southbound near Ballymun in the early hours of the morning.

Upon arrival, paramedics found a woman in her 30s in the late stages of labour who then delivered her child at approximately 3.30am this morning on Ireland's busiest motorway.

It is understood that both mum and baby girl are doing well today following the dramatic events of the night.

Celebrating the newborn's safe delivery, Dublin Fire Brigade took to their Twitter account to upload a photo and share the news with their followers.

Elaborating on the events of the night, they wrote: "Fire and ambulance crews from Kilbarrack assisted the delivery of a baby girl on the M50 at 0330. #fastlanedelivery."

Complimenting a job well done, one Twitter  follower wrote: "Great work all... Life in the fast lane..."
