Christine McGuinness has praised her twins for ‘conquering their daily challenges’, revealing that they both have autism in a special birthday post.

Christine, who is the wife of comedian and presenter Paddy, took to Instagram to share the heartfelt post with the world.

Paying tribute to little Leo and Penelope, who turned four yesterday, Christine gushed over how ‘fabulous’ her twins have grown from the moment they were born.

“You changed my life forever, swapping my stilettos for slippers, and discovering a patience I didn’t know I had. I love you both more than you will ever know,” she wrote.

Buoyed by the outpouring of love from her legion of social media followers, the 29-year-old got candid in a follow-up post featuring a poem dedicated to the twins.

For the first time, Christine - who is also mum to nine-month-old Felicity Rose - opened up about the twins’ autism, and the challenges and revelations that their journey has brought.

Describing how Leo and Penelope have learned to walk and ‘use flat feet’ over the past 12 months, she heaped praise on them for hitting their milestones.

“You are conquering your daily challenges, and I’m here to hold your hand. When you’re dealing with sensory overload, the quietest room sounds like a big brass band,” she wrote.

Amid “the meltdowns, the routines and all the planning ahead…the groundhog days, the beige food and the temperamental ‘time for bed’”, Leo and Penelope have found their talents and joy in ‘mathematics and amateur dramatics’.

Christine’s messages for her precious little ones is clear: they are the centre of her world, and no matter how challenging things may get, she is there for them at every step of the way.

“I love you unconditionally, and I will encourage you both to embrace your autism, because you are totally unique and fantastically awesome,” she added.

Christine’s post has garnered plenty of love online, leaving her followers touched and ‘choking up’ after reading. Many took to the comment section to share their own similar stories, too.

“My youngest boy was diagnosed when he was five…now seven…Our house revolves around his mood and likes. It’s hard when you have other children. My advice is talk to other parents. I’m sure with parents like you and Paddy, your two little stars will flourish in everything they do,” wrote one fellow mum.

Another chimed in: “I also have twins with autism – both boys, and they are 13 now. Life’s tough, but we have learned to embrace their differences.”

We simply adore Christine’s post, and we love to see the community of motherhood rallying to support one another.
