Despite going through some personal problems of his own, Brad Pitt has kindly taken some time out to spend with the children of his late friend, Chris Cornell, who died recently.

Brad was close pals with the Soundgarden musician, and it seems he wants to keep his close ties with the family. He was photographed taking Chris’ children - Christopher, 11 and Toni, 12 - on a day out to Universal Studio, on May 31.

"Brad definitely seemed like he was there for the kids to have a good time," a source told E! News. "He was very accommodating to them, and thankful to everybody at each attraction for helping them.

“They all seemed comfortable together, like Brad was effectively taking their mind off things for a few hours with a fun day at the park."

According to the source, young Christopher particularly enjoyed visiting The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and even got to pick out a wand from the Ollivander's Wand Shop attraction.

Cornell was found unresponsive with a band around his neck in his hotel bathroom on tour in Detroit. The results of a full autopsy and toxicology reports have not been released yet, but it’s believed that the singer committed suicide.

However, his family have disputed this, saying he must have been under the influence of drugs at the time.

Cornell is survived by his wife of 13 years, Vicky; and their three children. He has another daughter, Lilian, 16, from a previous marriage.

His funeral was attended by many Hollywood stars, including Brad.

It’s been a tough few months for Brad, as he admitted to struggling with addiction issues and finding life without his kids difficult following his split from Angelina Jolie.

In an interview with GQ Style, the actor admitted that living without his children was very different: “This house was always chaotic and crazy, voices and bangs coming from everywhere; and then, as you see, there are days like this: very…very solemn.”

Brad admitted he couldn’t stay in the house by himself, and ended up sleeping on a friend’s floor.

He also said he wants to enhance his relationship with his children: “Kids are so delicate. They absorb everything. They need to have their hand held and things explained. They need to be listened to. When I get in that busy work mode, I’m not hearing. I want to be better at that.”
