As anyone who has gone through the experience will know only too well, waiting to go in for a mastectomy procedure is a traumatic experience, and the last thing on your mind is the social media community.

However, one brave woman decided to use her experience to warn and educate as many women as she could ahead of her surgery.

Lisa Royle, from the UK, was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, and with a week to go until her mastectomy, she took to her Facebook page to raise awareness.

Posting an image of her breast, Lisa wrote: “Ok so I never thought I’d post a boob picture on Facebook but I thought I would before it gets chopped off next week.”

“So here it is…This is all that I found on my boob. Very subtle dimples underneath that could easily be missed when we’re all rushing around getting ready in a morning. Please take time to look at your boobs. It could save your life,” she added.

Lisa can take great pride in the fact that her post has been shared a whopping 68,000 times on Facebook, with many thanking her for taking the time to help others.

We wish Lisa all the best with her recovery.
