Call The Midwife has been renewed for THREE more series

Last night’s episode of Call The Midwife left us in floods of tears. We still can’t believe that the series has come to an end already. Our Sunday evenings won’t be the same without the ladies of Nonnatus House.

Millions tuned into last night’s emotional roller coaster of a finale. All across Ireland and the United Kingdom viewers cosied up on their sofas with a cuppa or a glass of wine (and box of tissues) to tune into the final episode of series eight.

There’s no doubt there’s a Call The Midwife shaped hole in our hearts this morning but fear not, we’ve got the most wonderful news.

This isn’t the last you’ll be seeing of Doctor Turner, Sister Monica Joan and Nurse Trixie. Shortly after last night’s episode came to an end, the BBC confirmed that Call The Midwife has been renewed for three more series.

They tweeted the joyous news: “BREAKING NEWS!! @BBCOne have confirmed #callthemidwife for a further THREE seasons, taking the hit drama up to 1967!!”

Fans were stunned by the amazing news. We were hoping for one more series, but another three really is wonderful.

“This is the best news I’ve had for a while,” one wrote.

Another commented: “Three more years of keeping Kleenex tissues in my company for my tears of joy and sadness. Kudos to everyone involved, it is superb on many levels.”

Helen George, who plays Nurse Trixie on the show, tweeted: “Can’t get rid of us.”

We may have to wait until Christmas for Call The Midwife to return but at least we know we’ll be returning to Poplar for three more years.
