Calls for legislation to deal with the issue of cyber-bullying have been renewed after another teenage girl tragically took her own life last week.
Hannah Smith was the victim of abuse on website Ask.Fm, which hit headlines last September following the suicide of Irish teenager Ciara Pugsley.
The number of young people experiencing online bullying has increased dramatically, with the NSPCC reporting that 12 children a day are now calling their helpline because of abuse by peers on social networking sites.
Jonathan Pugsley, father of Ciara, said; “I would plead once again to parents to try to find out if their children are using these social media sites and if they are to get them off them immediately. Until politicians do something we need to raise awareness.”
