“Geriatric” is not a word that springs to mind when we think of glamorous TV presenter Cat Deeley.

Unfortunately, Cat, 40, has found herself being labelled as a “geriatric mum” by her own doctor when discussing the possibility of having more children.

Cat revealed that she feels under pressure to have another child soon if she wants her son Milo, 18 months, to have siblings, according to The Mirror.

She explained: “I would love some more. But I have got to get on with it if I do. When you go for your check-ups they call you a ‘geriatric mum’. That is the terminology they use, I swear.”

In fact, doctors have told Cat she is "triple high risk" when it comes to having more children.

In a previous interview with Grazia, Cat revealed she worries about expanding her family. “When it comes to another child) the thing is I'm a worrier. What if something happens? I do want more kids. I love kids.”

Like all mums, caring for her son has taken its toll on Cat’s sleeping patterns. She said: “I am awake all night listening out for him.

“I am checking he is breathing. I am depressed I will never sleep again," she joked.

Recently former Strictly judge Arlene Phillips revealed how a doctor left her in tears following the birth of her second daughter at the age of 47 in 1991. Arlene, now 74, said she was “treated like a freak” and told that she “should be a grandmother, not a mother” at her age.

Arlene was delighted when she became pregnant with her second daughter Abi as she hadn’t thought having a second child was an option.

“No one could have been more stunned. I thought I was heading for the menopause, and here I was expecting a baby. It was such a blessing,” she explained.

However, Arlene’s joy was soured by comments a doctor made when she attended the Royal Free Hospital, in London, for her first appointment. The doctor told her that she was the oldest mum-to-be they’d ever had and that she “should be a grandmother, not a mother”.

“That made me feel terrible”, she recalled.

What do you think of the comments from Cat’s doctors mums? Have you ever had a similar experience? We would love to hear your thoughts on the matter.
