Comic actor Chris O'Dowd and his wife Dawn O'Porter recently welcomed their second child, on July 1.
Their son, Valentine, was born at home, and Chris himself assisted in the birth.
The actor shared details about the birth on Kelly and Ryan LIVE, and he had some pretty interesting observations to make about parenthood.
The Boyle native said that having a second child was “really nice” but also demanding.
As always, Chris had a funny analogy to share when he described becoming a parent of two children.
“Having your second kid is like you just learned how to play a song on the guitar, and then someone is like, 'OK, now play left-handed! And hold this baby',” he joked.
He also opened up about how little Valentine came into the world.
“We had a midwife. And my wife was there, which was excellent. And a friend of ours, who was like a doula.
“And we did it on our bed. It was great. And I caught him, which was fun,” the jovial actor added.
Ever the comedian, Chris couldn’t resist making one of his hilarious jokes as Valentine was born.
“We didn't know if it was going to be a boy or a girl,” he said. “And Dawn, my wife, was like, 'So what is it?!' And I said, 'It's a BABY!'"
Dawn shared the exciting news of the couple’s new arrival, posting the cutest photo of her tiny tot to Instagram.
She posted a photo of little Valentine with his face out of shot wearing the most adorable onesie with a duckling printed on it.
"Happy to announce I am the proud owner of this chirpy little chap. Born July 1, his name is Valentine O'Porter, and he is so delicious," she wrote.
Referring to her older son, Art, she added: "Two sons, my goodness. So in love.”
Chris then chimed in with a funny Instagram post of his own, sharing the same photo to Twitter.
“We had a baby boy last week. Woohoo! His nappy expenses are ridiculous, so this baby is going 'Cheep'," he wrote, admitting he has succumbed to the draw of the “dad joke”!
Chris and Dawn are one of our favourite celebrity couples and we’re so thrilled for them.
