Coronation Street fans, we’ve got some bad news. Catherine Tyldesley has confirmed that she won’t be taking part in the upcoming season of Strictly Come Dancing.

The actress was messaging fans on Twitter following her exit from the popular British soap.

One fan encouraged her to take part in the show now that her time on Corrie was over. They tweeted: “Just make sure you get daddy’s favourite @AlijazSkorjanec and pick up the glitter ball for @NormanWhiteside.”

The actress replied saying: “I’m on it dad!! Promise!”

This tweet sent fans into a frenzy, but Catherine quickly responded to the hysteria.

She told fans that she was simply joking and will not be participating in the dance show.

“Guys- I’m not doing @bbcstrictly - I ADORE the show. And maybe one day! But to put an end to constant rumours - I’m not involved this year,” she tweeted.

Catherine may not be taking part in this year’s show, but she’ll certainly be tuning in like the rest of us, “But as always can’t wait to watch it!! My total fave!!” she gushed.

No official line up has been released for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing, but fans don’t have long to go until they find out who will be competing for the glitter ball this year.

The BBC confirmed that the Strictly red carpet event is to take place on August 27, 2018. This means we have a little over three weeks to go until we find out who this year’s celebrities are.

The grand reveal happens at the red carpet show, which will be followed by a launch show.

The launch show will be pre-recorded on Friday, August 31 and is rumoured to air on Saturday, September 1.
