Valentine’s Day is one of the most fun times of the year for crafts, and it’s always a nice idea to get the kids involved in the festivities. This is a craft project that the kids will love, and you have the added bonus of getting to use up those spare paper plates that are hanging around your kitchen cupboards!

What you will need:
  • A paper plate
  • A scissors
  • A pencil
  • Pink or red paint
  • Tape
  • A lollipop stick

Method:
  1. Using your pencil (and maybe a stencil to guide you) draw a heart outline on the paper plate. Start the stalk of the heart at the point where the ridged edge finishes, to keep the ridge as the hat’s base or strap. Finish the top of the heart with about a quarter of the blank space to the ridge remaining, as pictured.
  2. Carefully cut out the heart, being careful not to accidentally cut into the ridge.
  3. Paint the entire paper hat in a festive pink or red, or another colour of your child’s choice.
  4. Once dry, carefully pull out the heart so that it is standing up. Tape a lollipop stick to the back of the base of the heart to keep it standing up.

Pop it on your little darling’s head for the ultimate adorable Valentine’s celebration. For more fun craft ideas for Valentine's Day, check out this link.
