When we think of a living room, many of us think of a room that is cosy: full of warmth, family, colour and texture. And even if it is likely to be hidden behind a multitude of kid paraphernalia, it is still nice to know that deep down our ideal living room is in there somewhere.

To help you get started on your road to a truly cosy room, here are four really useful tips:

Make sure you add plenty of pillows and throws. Go for contrasting colours to add depth and choose throws with varying textures.

When we think of candles many of us think of warmth, so make sure you pop a few child-friendly ones into your living room.

Various light sources work really well, so go for a main one, and a few scattered around the room.

If you are feeling brave, go for deep colours on your walls. Alternatively you can add colour via lampshades, throws, or frames against a plain background.
