It’s not likely that any parent – especially a mother – will forget giving birth to their child, but Martin Boyce and Holly Dawson only have to reach as far as YouTube for a refresher!

The couple have made headlines today, after footage of their daughter Isabelle’s home birth was filmed and shared with the world via the video platform.

Martin and Holly told local newspaper The Leicester Mercury that they had always wanted to film their baby’s birth, but it was a bit of a rush when the mum-to-be went into labour in the early hours of last Sunday morning.

Just 40 minutes after his fiancé woke him up, photographer Martin was delivering his own child in their home.

"I got up in a bit of hurry and I just about had time to ring a few people – the hospital, my mother and Holly's mother – when we timed the contractions, and they were about every 15 seconds,” he told the newspaper.

After setting up his camera, Martin tended to Holly while his mother took instruction over the telephone from midwives at Leicester General Hospital. Soon, it became obvious that the baby was not going to wait until medics reached the house, and sure enough, baby Isabelle was born in under an hour. The tot was born at 4.32am in the morning, weighing in at 7lbs 12oz.

Commenting on the dramatic birth, proud new dad Martin said: “It was a bit scary as it was some time before 'Belle moved and cried, but it was fine. As well as a bit scary, it was also absolutely amazing.”

Check out the footage below – we just love that frame of the family together for the first time!
