There's no doubt that this world-famous dad-of-four has a sense of humour and knows how to send himself up, but criticise his parenting skills and you'll soon see the steelier side of David Beckham.

Following an article by The Daily Mail which cast aspersions on his daughter's use of a dummy at four-years-old, David took to social media to slam the piece.

Posting a screengrab of the offending article, David encouraged the publication to consider the motivation behind his choice to allow the lovely Harper to use a dummy on that particular day.

"Everybody who has children knows that when they aren't feeling well or have a fever you do what comforts them best and most of the time it's a pacifier." he wrote.

The article which suggested Harper may ultimately suffer from speech or dental issues as a result of pacifier use did not sit well with the renowned sport star, who questioned: "Why do people feel they have the right to criticise a parent about their own children without having any facts?"

Disgusted his parenting choices came under scrutiny, 40-year-old David continued: "So, those who criticise, think twice about what you say about other people's children because actually you have no right to criticise me as a parent."

Messages of support have flooded in since the star aired his view on the controversial piece, with one fan writing: "Amen!!! Thank you for your words @davidbeckhammy daughter is the same way and I hate the backlash I get from some who think she is going to be messed up from her desire to have a binkie when she is sick or nervous or just tired. You are the best." (sic)

David's post has amassed over half a million likes since its upload last night.
