She recently gave her first emotional interview on the painful subject of her mother’s death, and the full extent of Joan Rivers’ daughter Melissa’s heartbreak has been revealed this week.

Following the comedienne’s sad and unexpected death last year, Melissa launched a multi-million dollar lawsuit against the New York clinic where Joan was treated. Now, Melissa has opened up on the real reason behind her legal action.

Appearing on The Wendy Williams Show this week, the mother-of-one admitted that suing the Yorkville Endoscopy clinic is, she feels, the only way she is going to get answers to her questions surrounding Joan’s death and how it happened.

Melissa told Williams: “We live in this weird time where to find out what really happened, you have to sue, otherwise nobody is going to turn over records. I want to find out what happened. I need to know, I need answers. You have no choice but to sue.”

Joan entered the clinic for what was expected to be a routine throat procedure. However, she stopped breathing following an unplanned throat biopsy, and was rushed to hospital where she died shortly after.

Melissa recently blasted the clinic during a live TV interview, saying that Joan’s death was “100% preventable”.
