While we may be used to celebrities sharing tender snaps of their latest arrival on social media mere moments after they're born, we're not as accustomed to the type of heartfelt message which new father Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson chose to accompany his first daddy/ daughter image.

The star, who last week welcomed baby daughter Jasmine into the life he shares with Lauren Hasian, uploaded an incredibly touching image of himself and his child which he shared alongside a detailed tribute to the wonder of fatherhood.

In the post which has amassed over 700,000 likes in seven hours, the actor began by writing: "Christmas came early! Within minutes of being born she was laying on daddy's chest. And being a grateful man takes on a whole new meaning... Thank you guys so much for the awesome congratulatory wishes and love you've been sending."

Like many new parents, the 43-year-old star felt compelled to change for the better following his daughter's arrival, explaining: "Kinda crazy but in this cool and powerful skin to skin bonding moment with my newborn baby Jasmine, I had just one wish I asked the universe... Give me the strength to be a better man today than I was yesterday."

In a message to his male fans and followers, the new dad reminded them of the importance of striving for improvement, writing: "If I can accomplish that, then I'd have a good shot at being a great father. To all you young men out there who will be fathers one day, the goal of "being better" will never steer you wrong. "

Elaborating on his point, the actor sought to remind future fathers of the importance of supporting their child's mother, continuing: "Something else that'll never steer you wrong is "walking thru the fire" with your baby's mama." (sic)

"I was right there during labor, helping her breathe, every highly intense contraction, every second of pain, right there watching the actual birth, cutting the cord and wiping the tears," he told his legions of fans earlier today.

With trademark good humour, the former wrestler sought to lighten the mood somewhat by joking: "Now don't get me wrong boys, it wasn't like I was at the end of the table, squatting like a catcher waiting for the fastball to come down the pike but as men, it's a miracle we should witness because it'll give you a whole new respect for the strength and beauty of a woman."

Wishing his millions of fans and followers season's greetings, Jasmine's doting dad completed his touching post with a tongue-in-cheek hashtag which read: "She can date when she's 40."

We think that's one post that most certainly has to be wheeled out at Jasmine's Sweet 16!
