He boasts his own fandom, nicknamed the ‘Cumberb**ches’, but it seems there are major downsides to having a legion of adoring fans for Benedict Cumberbatch.

The Sherlock actor has shared his thoughts on the trolling of his family and their life together, branding the behaviour ‘obsessive’ and ‘really scary’.

Last year was an exciting one for Benedict, who wed partner Sophie Hunter and went on to welcome son Christopher. There are some people, however, who haven’t shared in the star’s happiness.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, the 40-year-old said: “There are people who believe that my wife is a PR stunt and my child is a PR stunt. I think, really, it’s to do with the idea that the ‘Internet’s boyfriend’ can’t actually belong to anyone else but the internet.”

“’It’s impossible he belongs to anyone but me.’ And that’s what stalking is. That’s what obsessive, deluded, really scary behaviour is,” he added.

Benedict admitted that he is, however, delighted with the nice, happy messages he receives from his most devoted fans.

“I’m glad I’m bringing a ray of sunshine to an otherwise dull day, being imagined eating fritters shirtless. But, I don’t know, it makes me giggle,” he laughed.

We can’t imagine how frustrating it must be to receive such nasty messages regarding your family. Hopefully, the Cumberb**ches will take note from his latest interview.
