Dominic Cooper and Ruth Negga have ended their eight-year relationship, according to reports. It is understood the split was amicable, and the pair will remain friends.

Celebrity website, Page Six said, “Pals say the off-screen romance ran its course and the two are moving on.”

The co-stars first met in 2009, when they were both starring in a play at the National Theatre in London.

Since starring in Phèdre, the pair continued to star alongside one another in the same projects, including Warcraft and Preacher, “I met Ruth doing Phèdre. Then we continued to get lots of jobs together, completely coincidentally,” Dominic told The Times.

Before meeting the Mamma Mia star, Ruth was warned about dating actors in general. She told The Edit magazine, “People say, 'Never go out with an actor.' But if you were with someone with a normal job, and one of you had to go away, how would that work?” she asked.

The pair star alongside each other in Preacher, an adaptation of the comic book series with the same name. The show has been picked up for a third season, which is due to air in the summer of 2018.

Dominic has confirmed his return to the show, however, Ruth’s character was shot at the end of season two, so her return is unclear.
