Ed Sheeran has reportedly been asked to perform at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding, the same day he is due to perform in Dublin's Pheonix park.

According to US Weekly, the singer has already been approached by the Royal couple, though it is not yet known whether he accepted the offer.

A source told the publication: “Prince Harry has personally requested Ed perform at his wedding."

While this may come as one of the greatest honours of Ed's career so far, the news sparks disappointment for many Irish fans.

The Royal wedding falls on the same Ed is due to perform the last of three gigs scheduled for Dublin's Pheonix park, though given the short flight time between Dublin and London, it's possible that the Thinking Out Loud singer could do both in the same day.

Kensington Palace announced earlier this week that the wedding ceremony will begin at midday at St. George's Chapel, followed by a private reception for close friends and family.

Ed is yet to comment on the news, but we're hoping the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity doesn't put the Dublin gig in jeopardy.
