This global music icon has called for the boycott of fashion brand Dolce and Gabbana after a very ill-advised comment was made by the designers regarding children born through IVF.

Elton John, who is the proud father of two young boys with his husband David Furnish, has taken a very dim view of the designer's comments which were made during an interview with an Italian magazine.

Taking to Instagram this morning in order to express his disgust at the comments, Elton wrote: "How dare you refer to my beautiful children as 'synthetic'?"

Unable to hide his contempt for the insensitive remarks, the 67-year-old singer and songwriter went on to say: "And shame on you for wagging your judgemental little fingers at IVF- a miracle that has allowed legions of loving people, both straight and gay, to fulfil their dreams of having children."

Finishing his message with a vow to never wear another D&G piece, the star wrote: "Your archaic thinking is out of step with the times, just like your fashions. I shall never wear Dolce and Gabbana ever again. #BoycottDolceGabbana."

Stefano Gabbana has made no secret of his stance on same-sex families, having said in the past: "A child needs a mother and a father. I am opposed to the idea of a child growing up wth two gay parents."

With a host of famous faces and members of the public already expressing their support for Elton's campaign, we wonder if the fashion brand will decide to retract their remarks.
