Simon Cowell may be already training his son Eric, three, to become his X-Factor successor.

The tot was spotted accompanying dad Simon and mum Lauren Silverman to the X-Factor auditions in London yesterday.

And while little Eric appears to have inherited Simon’s mop of thick black hair, he thankfully hasn’t inherited his fashion sense.

Eric was dressed in a suitably rock-n-roll outfit for the occasion, wearing a grey Rolling Stones t-shirt with “I’m with the band” written on the reverse, grey denim shorts and Converse.

Simon, of course, opted for his usual uniform of a white t-shirt, sunglasses and ill-fitting bootcut jeans.

Young Eric posed for photos in his dad’s arms before deciding he wanted to get down and run around.

Simon who’s known for his cutting comments and sulky demeanour was all smiles for once as he joked around with his son.

Simon was returning to filming after being struck down by a mystery illness on Tuesday morning.

However, he recovered and joined his fellow judges for the afternoon auditions at Tobacco Dock in East London, according to The Mirror.

It’s not the first time Eric has been to the set of the X-Factor, he melted hearts when he paid a visit to Simon backstage last year.

The cute tot brought a special delivery for Simon, a card he had made and even performed a dance for the cameras!

Becoming a dad has softened surly Simon’s heart so much that he’s even considering having more children.

In a previous interview, Simon revealed: "Myself and Lauren want to have more children of our own but we could adopt as well."

Simon made no secret of his interest in adoption, saying: "I wouldn't rule it out. It's a good idea. I’m beginning to warm to it”.

When it came to the topic of bringing up Eric, there were certain values, in particular, Simon wants to instil in his son. "I'm going to make sure we teach him manners and not to talk down to people. I'm terrible at discipline but that's all basic stuff."

He said he would also teach Eric to care for animals too. “The first thing I said to Lauren is we'll teach him to always be kind to animals,” the talent show judge revealed.

We love seeing the softer side of Simon – long may it last!
