Having rose to fame on long-running MTV reality television show, 16 and Pregnant, mum-of-one, Farrah Abraham, has divided opinion since she burst onto our screens in 2009 as a teenage cheerleader navigating her way through pregnancy.

Despite intense scrutiny, the 24-year-old former Celebrity Big Brother contestant has fended off much criticism, from her involvement in adult entertainment to her approach to childhood milestones, and appears to emerge from every high-profile spat utterly unscathed.

And now, the Teen Mom star, who is the proud mother of six-year-old daughter Sophia, has announced that she plans to expand her family and will become a mother for the second time.

Speaking to US Weekly, the controversial figure, whose parenting choices have been the subject of criticism in recent months, has revealed that she is in the process of adopting a child, saying: "I’m happy to confirm I’m moving forward in my adoption process."

Commenting on the effect this decision will have on her current work / life balance, the former MTV star continued: "This means I will be making some changes in my career to welcome a new addition to my family."

Elaborating on her news, the Teen Mom star could barely contain her delight, saying she feel 'very excited' and insisted: "I’m very blessed for this opportunity."

Farrah's former partner and father of little Sophia, Derek Underwood, died in a car crash two months before his daughter's arrival in 2009.
