Introducing your significant other to your young children is a particularly daunting experience, but this famous dad appears to have coped quite well with the challenge.

TV presenter Jeff Brazier, who is dad to 12-year-old Bobby and 10-year-old Freddie, has opened up this week about how he tackled the sensitive topic.

The star told Closer that he picked the opportune moment to introduce his boys to new girlfriend Kate Dwyer, whom he has been dating since last year.

“For me, six months is a really good amount of time, because you know by then whether or not they’re likely to be around for the foreseeable future,” he explained.

Recalling the first meeting, he added: “We did a couple of really cool things. It felt like the perfect introduction because the boys seemed suitably impressed by her, and she got to answer all of those doubts that would go through someone’s head who’s meeting somebody’s children for the first time. Everyone was happy with it and how it went.”

He added that fame hasn’t fazed his sons in the slightest, joking: “If anything, the criticism I’ve received since is that I’ve made them un-famous… That was a conscious decision that I made six years ago, that they needed a normal childhood to come to terms with their loss.”

Bobby and Freddie are Jeff’s children with the late reality star Jade Goody, who sadly passed away after a short battle with cervical cancer.
