Having given birth a year ago, this world-famous mum has been reluctant to share photos of her baby daughter, telling inquisitive members of the press and public that it 'just hadn't felt right'.

However, it looks like 35-year-old Chelsea Clinton decided to break her own rules last night in honour of her daughter, Charlotte's, first big milestone.

Taking to Facebook, the daughter of the former President of the United States of America, paid tribute to the little girl she welcomed into the the life she shares with husband Marc Mezvinsky.

The proud mum-of-one has been inundated with well wishes and messages, including an all-important like from doting grandmother Hilary, since uploading the beautiful black and white shot last night.

The photo which sees a baby Charlotte perched on her mum's lap was captioned: "Last book for Charlotte before bedtime on her first birthday!"

Honouring the little girl who arrived four years after she married Charlotte's dad, Bill Clinton's daughter continued: "Marc and I are so grateful every day to be her parents."

Using the photo as a platform to support Charlottes' grandmother, Hilary Clinton, one fan of the Clinton family wrote: "Happy Birthday Charlotte. I hope you celebrate your third birthday in the white house with your granny Madam President."

"Charlotte, did you know that Grandma is going to be America's First and Fabulous, Female President? How's that for a birthday blessing baby girl," wrote another Clinton supporter.

Commenting on her decision to keep her child off her social media channels, Chelsea once said: "I have no doubt that, at some point, I might succumb to the ‘this is such a cute moment that I feel the need to share it more broadly’ impulse."

It looks like that time has finally come!
