Having undergone numerous surgeries over the course of the year, new mum Katie Piper has returned to hospital this week in order to have surgery performed on her throat.

The courageous mum-of-one, who is always happy to update fans and followers on her progress, took to social media last night and shared her latest news.

Uploading a photo of herself dressed in a hospital gown and curled in a chair, the 31-year-old philanthropist made reference to her ongoing medical procedures, captioning the shot: "So it continues."

Having been forced to miss her daughter Belle's first birthday in March due to medical complications, this much-loved mum does her best to take these visits in her stride and tends to focus on the positives when she can.

Although Katie, who came to public attention after falling victim to a brutal acid attack, has always maintained a sunny demeanour despite her difficulties, recent reports which suggested her attacker may soon be released from prison prompted the star to speak out on the issue, saying: "The victim, well there is no halfway through the medical sentence. It's ongoing for life."

Comparing his prison sentence with her ongoing medical concerns, Katie said in a heartfelt expression of regret: "Life means life but sadly only for one of us."

Katie, who is currently in hospital to have a plastic stent removed from her throat, smiled and waved for the camera as she made her way through hospital corridors confirming that she is one of the most courageous and upbeat mums out there.

Wishing Katie a very speedy recovery!
