She previously raised concern over a series of worrying cryptic messages posted to Twitter, and while followers initially thought her comments may have been directed at management, it looks as though singer and former X Factor star Rebecca Ferguson may have been alluding to her financial woes.

This certainly seems to be the case, after the star and mother-of-three appeared in court this week to confront a former friend accused of conning her out of thousands of pounds.

The 28-year-old told the court how ex-friend Rachel Taylor convinced her to let her handle her personal and professional bills after pretending to be a qualified accountant.

It is claimed that Taylor went on to con Rebecca out of over £43,000, which included money intended to start a trust fund for one of the singer’s children.

Taylor, appearing before Liverpool Crown Court this week, has been sentenced to 16 months in jail after admitting to two counts of fraud.

Tying in with her former Twitter comments, Rebecca revealed that the shocking incident had left her suffering from panic attacks and had ‘broken her heart and mind’.

“As a result of everything, I cannot trust people, and I was always a naturally shy person. I now question everybody and it limits me socially,” she said.

Giving an insight into the kind of control Taylor had, she added: “Worst of all were the panic attacks because she because so involved in my life…On reflection she would play my fears, manipulate me and question everyone around me.”

We can’t imagine how traumatising this must have been. We hope that Rebecca can gain some comfort from the court ruling.
