Fans of Robert De Niro have been reacting to the tragic death of his grandson.
It has been announced that The Godfather star’s grandson, Leandro De Niro Rodriguez, has passed away at just 19 years of age.
Leandro was an up-and-coming actor, best known for appearing in the 2018 movie A Star Is Born alongside the likes of Lady Gaga.
Leandro’s passing was confirmed by his mother, Drena De Niro, on social media in the early hours of this morning. His cause of death has yet to be shared with the public.
The 51-year-old shared a loving photo of her son and wrote a heartbreaking tribute to him.
“My beautiful sweet angel. I have loved you beyond words or description from the moment I felt you in my belly. You have been my joy my heart and all that was ever pure and real in my life,” Drena penned in her caption.
“I wish I was with you. I don’t know how to live without you but I’ll try to go on and spread the love and light that you so made me feel in getting to be your mama,” she continued.
“You were so deeply loved and appreciated and I wish that love alone could have saved you,” Drena concluded. “I’m so sorry my baby, I’m so sorry. Rest in Peace and Eternal Paradise my darling boy.”
Many have since expressed their love and condolences to Drena, as well as to the wider De Niro family.
“Drena I am so sad to hear about beautiful Leo. Sending you all my love,” replied presenter Andy Cohen.
“May the memory of Leo forever be but a blessing. I am so sorry for your heartbreak,” one follower responded.
“I am in shock. So sorry to hear this!! There are no words! Sending so much love!!” another added.
