When I heard about this trial, I was very keen to take part because the Avonmore brand is very popular in our house and their dairy products regularly feature in our shopping trolley. Specifically, Avonmore is the only brand of cream or butter we would purchase but we haven’t been buying Avonmore milk. Typically we would just buy Tesco own-brand milk for convenience and the cheaper price. I have never thought about shopping around for different brands of milk…..until now! Avonmore is a well-recognised brand and I would be very confident that any product I purchase with their logo would be of the highest standard. I have always been happy with Avonmore, never have any complaints and I will stay loyal to this brand.

On first appearance, I was impressed with the cartons. They are easily recognisable on the shelf with the familiar red, white and blue colours. I particularly liked that they had highlighted the fact that the milk is high in Vitamin D and also has extra calcium and folic acid as these facts are what would encourage me to buy the product. In particular, the added Vitamin D is a strong motivating factor for me. There are benefits for everybody in the household, the kids need calcium for growing bones and it’s a clever way of getting extra vitamins and minerals into my father’s diet as he has a very small appetite. With regard to myself, being female I worry about osteoporosis in later life especially with too little calcium in my younger days and also a lack of sunshine here in Ireland! I would like to start incorporating Super Milk into our family’s diet and I have certainly found it quite easy during this trial. Typically we purchase a large volume of milk anyway so all I did was switch the brand and nobody even noticed. We all drink milk daily in cereals, at lunch time, in our cups of tea and in the evening with a few cookies. I find that after a session in the gym, a glass of milk is a good way to cool down and so much better than a Lucozade.

The recipes suggested looked so tempting that I just couldn’t resist trying out 2 of them. Lately we have started to buy nuts and chia seeds so I thought it would be interesting to try out the Chocolate Chia Oats and they went down a real treat! They were very easy and fast to prepare, I put them in small jars and we had them for breakfast topped with chopped banana and berries. I was pleased that, because the recipe included Super Milk, it was so much healthier than just having a sugary/chocolatey cereal with regular milk and got the day off to a good start for us all, making us less likely to snack on naughty treats mid-morning. I also liked that the recipe incorporated oats as I find it a struggle to get everybody enthusiastic about porridge, particularly in the summer months.

I’m no whizz in the kitchen and I knew it would be a disaster if I tried the Healthy Wholegrain Pancakes –, although they certainly looked tasty! Cheesecake is a real passion of my father’s so I was curious to try out the Blackberry Cheesecake Popsicles - a healthy alternative dessert! And yes they were healthy, only low fat cream, light honey, Super milk and blackberries – practically no calories at all plus the benefit of the added vitamins and minerals in the milk. The only drawback about making them was that we had to wait overnight until they were frozen but thankfully they were worth the wait. A delicious afternoon treat and we all loved the extra zing added from the blackberries. I even tried a few citrus ones with slices of lemon and orange and they were even nicer.

On the whole, Avonmore Super Milk went down a treat, we all loved the taste – refreshing, thirst quenching and just the right balance between light and creamy. Every drop was gone in no time at all. However, the real bonus was the fact that, by drinking just one 250ml glass, we are getting 100% of our recommended daily Vitamin D requirement and 52% of our recommended Calcium requirement. Just a thought but I would love to see a flavoured version of the Super milk. I think the kids would be really enthusiastic about a banana, strawberry or even a pineapple version. It would be a far better choice than a can of coke when they get thirsty.

Without a doubt, I will buy Avonmore Super Milk again. It’s a clever way of ensuring we all get our vitamin D and calcium requirement. As I already trust and value the Avonmore brand, I know what to expect when I buy their products and I have never before been disappointed. I know that their milk is slightly dearer than the own-shop brands but in the long run, you have to balance the extra cost with the long term health and for me, in this case, health wins out. My sister is pregnant at the moment and I will encourage her to switch to Super Milk for her health and increased requirements at this important time. I’ll also let my friends know and I’ll pass on the recipes too. I think a strong marketing campaign to increase awareness about the benefits of this milk is important. Adults should be made aware of the importance of Vitamin D and calcium and of course if kids see ads for a colourful, attractive and healthy drink, they will want to try it for themselves.

Thanks so much for letting me take part in this trial, we do buy Avonmore – I buy slimline for me, and the kids have full fat. Never really occurred to me to buy Supermilk to be honest – but looking at it now, it really makes sense as it has vitamin D (so hard to get in Ireland) and calcium. I always forget about Vitamin D and it’s so important, so since starting this trial I’ve replaced the full fat with Supermilk version – nobody even noticed the difference, and I’ve started including it in a few of my things during the day also.
We use milk every day – the kids drink one glass a day, they have it in cereal and I’d often include it in dinner – sauces, mash etc. We tried out the healthy wholegrain pancakes, which were absolutely gorgeous – I got the kids to help too, so it was a real joint effort that everybody enjoyed.
I have to say, it’s only since doing the trial that made me realise how easy it is to inforporate vitamin D in my family’s diet. I will buy Avonmore Supermilk from now on and have got my sister and mum on it too. Thanks again

For some unknown reason, we don't buy Avonmore milk, but would buy cream and soups. The packaging is easily recognisable and colourful, which helps encourage kids to try it. I love the fact that it is rich in Vit D and calcium. This is brilliant for kids and in fact ourselves as parents too. None of us get enough Vit D in Ireland and this is a great way to increase our intake.
My son was happy to try this 'new' milk as it was from a colourful package and looked exciting. He was very happy with the taste and wanted more! I then tried using the milk in our family creamy chicken and pasta bake. It was delicious and worked out really well. We all used the milk in our cereals and beverages for the week and my husband didn't notice any taste difference which will mean it's a simple transition from our current milk to Supermilk.
I will definitely buy Supermilk again and one of the main reasons is the Vit D added to it and in one glass, you can get kids to have their daily recommended amount. I can honestly say that I had no idea that Supermilk had added Vit D in it before starting this trial, so I think an increase in advertise will heighten awareness amongst the household shopper.

Like many houses in Ireland, we go through a huge amount of milk in our house, so I feel like I buy milk every day, which means I’ll often just grab a litre wherever I am. Since being selected to take part in this Group, I bought only Avonmore milk this week.
With Supermilk being the only thing in the fridge, the kids used it no bother, there was no question of a different taste – of course, because there isn’t.
The kids always have cereal in the morning (and sometimes for supper too) but they wouldn’t really drink a glass of milk.
Myself and the hubby have endless tea, so we definitely get our fill of milk on a given day too.I’m very happy to know that there is added vitamin D in Supermilk, and it would sway my purchasing mind to buy again.
I noticed in work we were only buying low fat, so I asked them to change to Avonmore Supermilk and they agreed. Nobody noticed a thing.
I have started to make overnights oats using your recipe – aside from being able to use the Supermilk in this recipe, this is such a great thing to grab running out the door on a busy morning – great set up for the day.
Thanks for letting me try this out – I would recommend, and will buy again.

We were delighted to be included in this trial. I was well aware of the avonmore brand and had previously purchased avonmore products before. I would rate them as a high quality product. The avonmore branding and packaging make it attractive to the eye and it stands out from other brands on the shelf, it's more colourful. The fact that avonmore super milk contains calcium & vitamin D would make it more appealing when purchasing milk for our family, especially as we have young growing children. It was very easy to incorporate the super milk into our children's diet as the children have cereal with milk for breakfast and milk with their lunch and tea also. It's easy to get their recommended daily vitamin d & calcium this way. My husband would only have milk in tea or coffee, I would use milk in my porridge & in teas & coffees but I feel we are still getting our daily allowance.I made some banana smoothies & hot chocolate for the kids with the super milk and they went down a treat. I also used the milk for scrambled eggs and again it tasted like regular milk. The super milk didn't taste any different to our regular full fat milk - the kids didn't notice any difference and I couldn't find much of a difference either.I would recommend the super milk to any person who wants to ensure they are getting enough vitamin D in their diet and will continue to purchase super milk going forward.

Thanks a lot for letting us take part in this trial, there's no reason in this day and age why you wouldn't get your daily vitamind D and calcium requirements- especially when your milks is fortified. I'm delighted to say I'm a big fan of Avonmore Super Milk and I use every day.
The Avonmore brand is something I've been familiar with my whole life, my granny and mum always bought it and so now I do too.
Would recommend it to other mums for inclusion in a healthy balkanced diet.

I was delighted to hear about the Avonmore Super Milk trial. As part of the trial I received a number of recipes to consider trying and I will hold my hand up and admit I did not try any. With working fulltime and trying to renovate our house at weekends, new recipes, or indeed any recipes that take any length, are not an option in our family. So anything that we can add to our trolley at the weekends that make life a bit easier and is a huge plus in our books.
We are hopeless for the vitamin D drops. I'm confident our daughter has a healthy varied diet but she may not always have gotten her vitamin D drops... and I'll hold my hands up that knowing her daily milk intake somewhat makes up for our neglect on this front eases my mummy guilt.
I'm from a farming background and I have always tended towards other Irish brands as they were "local" to me growing up and I like to 1) know where my dairy is being sourced and 2) support local farmers. I love that Avonmore introduces you to the farmers on their website. I like to be able to put a face to a product.
Their packaging is bright and attractive and the Super Milk is readily available in most stores. It is more expensive than own brand products but not enough to convince me not to buy this again. The benefits definitely outway in this case.

I tend to buy whatever milk is in the shop I go to, but am very happy to test out Avonmore Super Milk and understanding how important Vitamin D is to a healthy diet has made me think twice about what milk we should be using.
I always buy skimmed milk, and I'm so used to it now, I can't have the full fat in my tea or cereal - but I do think it's important to encorporate it in my diet, so I tried your pancake and smoothie recipe and you wouldn't notice the taste difference at all - they were really yummy.
The kids didn't notice the difference as they always have whole milk, and I'm happy that they are now getting their daily allowance of Vit D.
Will be buying again, and would recommend to other mums - it's a really simple and healthy addition to the diet. BIG thumbs up.

To be honest - I normally buy low fat milk, and it's out of habit. Since testing out Avonmore Super Milk, I now include that in our shop. The kids aren't great for drinking milk, they're very used to water, so having a glass of milk is not really something they look for - of course they have it in cereal, but I've tried to include some new recipes in our meals this week to encorporate it.
We had pancakes for tea and I also made fruit pops - which were a big hit. I made the overnight oats for myself, which were to die for - not sure I'd eat them in the winter, I'd probably change back to porridge, but as a healthy summer breakfast, they are fantastic.
Very happy to know that one glass of Avonmore Super Milk has the daily allowance of Vitamin D, this will encourage me to buy again, and I would recommend. It's a very easy supplement to make.

Thank you so much for letting me take part in this trial.
We always buy a selection of milk in our house - but I have to say, it never occurs to me to buy Supermilk, but of course I should - we all know there is a huge problem with vitamin D deficiency, especially with our weather, but also because when we do actually get a bit of sun, we put the sun screen on. Delighted to know that one glass of milk contains my daily RDA.
There's no problem getting the kids to drink milk - they love it. We have it in all the usual (cereal, glass of milk before bed) but we also make milk ice pops from the fruit smoothies we made - the kids absolutely loved them. I just bough frozen fruit, blended them and added the milk, for sweetness I added a spoon of honey, a really healthy treat that the kids didn't even realise was healthy.

Thanks again for letting us take part - will be choose Avonmore Supermilk from now on, to replace the standard whole milk we normally get. Would recommend.
