Thanks so much for choosing me for this trial.
I'm very waware of John West - we always have the tinned salmon - a family favourite even when I was a kid. I had never heard of the John West Steam Post - so was excited to test them.
The John West Steam Pots arrived today - and they couldn't have arrived at a better time. Today has been a typical manic Monday, I've barely had time to think, let alone cook myself a wholesome and filling meal. The kids all have friends back to day, so after running around like a headless chicken getting everyone sorted, I gave myself five mintues to sit and eat. I grabbed a Steam Pot and I have to say it was really really tasty. I find it quite hard to include fish in my diet, I just never seem to get around to it. And with verying tastes in my house, I try to stick to very general meals.
The Steam Pots are ridiculously easy to prepare, really tasty and so quick. Perfect for this busy mums. I've only tasted one (the Soy and GInger) and it was absolutely scrumptious.

I would definitely buy again they are so worth the money - a sandwich is more expensive and you never feel like you've had a full meal.
I have already recommended to mummy friends and family. Thank you again for letting me take part.

Thanks for letting me be part of this trial. I was previously aware of the John West Brand but hadn't heard of the Steam Pots. I think they are so handy, great for work//college and different to a salad or a sandwich. I'm always on the lookout for something different and handy to bring. I'll definitely get these again. My favourite one was Tuna Infsions with coriander & cumin and Lime & coriander cous cous. Delicious! I'm guessing I'll find them with the rest of the tuna products in the supermarket and I'll definitely recommend them especially to my work/college friends!
Thanks again.

I would definitely keep these in the cupboard for those mad busy days when you havent time to make something substantial to eat on th run.

First off I'd like to say a very big thank you for choosing me to taste the John West steam pots. I must say on my first taste I was blown away. I'm a very big eater of cous cous, and also tuna fish. But I do find its very hard to give cous cous a good taste. But my first mouth full had me amazed! I was very aware of the John West brand of tinned fish. I had only seen the steam pots being stocked in my local shop in the last couple of weeks and like I said cous cous is very hard to flavour so I held back on buying them. But how I was so wrong! John West has hit it on the taste head with these pots! And definitely worth the €2.99 price tag. You may look at it and think it wouldn't fill you or might not taste great but believe me it's a huge tummy filler and the taste explosions I got from them was amazing, that and a bit of boiling water and within 5 minutes you have a steaming pot of heaven! I loved them all but I particularly liked the sun dried tomato one and the chilli one. Perfect for grabbing while running around the house for a quick lunch in between doing the house work and looking after a small child. And they are very filling I wasn't hungry till dinner time. With other lunches i''d end up snacking through the day. I will definitely be adding these to my shopping list from now on, if the price puts anyone off i'd say look at what your eating usually for lunch and how much it costs. More than likely it doesn't fill you till dinner. For just 2.99 you get a very healthy taste lunch that is super easy and quick to make that fills you for the entire day. Can't get better than that. Amazing product! Well done to John West, they've come up with a brilliant product! Even my dad who never eats cous cous is a big fan! And he's very hard to please! ☺

Thanks so much for choosing me to take part in this trial.
i have heard of John West tinned fish before and have eaten the tuna and salmon, but never heard of the steam pots.
They are a brillant idea for busy mums like me, who are busy running around and dont get time to eat. They are quick, convient and delicous and a great price at €2.99.
Im sure these would be located with the other tinned fish in the supermarket.
I really enjoyed tasting them and will be adding all of them to my shopping list( very hard to pick a favourite), and recommend to my friends and family.

I am a big fan of encouraging healthy eating at home and we eat fish at least once a week so I was very happy to be given the opportunity to try the new John West Steam Pots. I was delighted to receive the generous package of 5 Steam Pots which arrived and I can assure you that we savoured each one!

I am well aware of the John West range and we regularly buy the tins of Red Salmon as well as the recently introduced “Tuna Infusions” – which are very popular with our family. I can remember my mother often making a salmon pie for us when we got in from school back in the 1980’s and she always used John West – no other brand would ever do. My Dad loves fish and his favourite is the No Drain Tuna – all the taste with none of the oily mess. Before this trial, I had not heard of Steam Pots but I think that they are a very clever and innovative idea – an instantly satisfying, easy-to-prepare hot lunch which is nutritious and healthy too.

Our verdict was that the Steam Pots were deliciously tasty. I thought the portion size in each was generous which meant they were filling and satisfying and kept me going for the rest of the day. There was a nice variety in the flavour combinations and a good range of options. The Coriander & Cumin and Lime & Coriander Couscous was a true taste sensation and my favourite – it had a very distinctive and unique flavour which I liked and was unlike any other “quick” lunch I have had before. It was also a nice change from a straightforward and sometimes boring tuna and sweetcorn sandwich which I often have. The Red Pepper Couscous with Chilli and Garlic tuna was my least favourite – I found it too spicy/hot for my palate.

I work in an office so it was ideal for popping into my bag and no time was spent preparing the night before or messing with sandwiches getting soggy in the car. They are quick, easy and a no fuss solution for a yummy warm meal. All you have to do is add boiling water to the couscous, wait for a minute or two then stir in the tuna you’re all set up with something hot to tuck into. Fast, filling, flavoursome– you can’t go wrong. I could have it for lunch at my desk if I wanted which was convenient. The others in the house like to have them in the evening time in front of the tv and it’s definitely a better option than reaching for the biscuits or crisps so I was very pleased with that. I think they are ideal for anybody but particularly those with a busy lifestyle or perhaps as a nutritious refuelling after exercise.

I thought the presentation and packaging was clever. The product looks appealing, it is bright and colourful and would catch my eye on the shelf. I also liked that each flavour was clearly differentiated by colour. In terms of store location, I would like to see it along with the other fish products – I think that is where it would naturally sit. However, I also think it might be an idea to put them with the other “quick” lunches as customers might not think of checking the fish aisle when they are looking for something handy for lunch.

As a result of this trial, I would buy John West Steam pots again. For a healthy lunch that’s quick to prepare, I think €2.99 is a reasonable price and would be happy to pay that. Many of the ready-made, pre-packed sandwiches and rolls are more expensive and this was a good deal more flavoursome and tasty. I would also be happy to recommend this tasty product to family and friends. I liked that the tin of tuna was drain free and of very good quality. Succulent tuna blended with unique herbs and spices together with delicately seasoned couscous - a tantalising tuna lunch with a difference!

John West Steam Pots are very tasty and a great snack when someone comes in and are very hungry. My husband thought that they were a bit dry but a little more water above the brink line and he enjoyed it. €2.99 are about the right price. My son says they are ideal a lunch when he is at work.

Thank you for choosing me for this trial. Loved loved loved the steam pots. Had them for lunch every day since they arrived. So handy to grab and take to work. No messing and so easy to prepare. Felt I was eating a healthy lunch. My workmates were all impressed and curious.
Felt the pricing is just about €2.99 and cheaper than a sandwich. John West tins of salmos have always been a staple in our store cupboard, both now and when we were growing up. I know exactly what aisle to head to to find John West products.
My favourite so far is the lemon tuna with the black Olive Cous Cous but indeed I've loved them all so far. Well done on a great , tasty, healthy, affordable lunch alternative.

I was very happy to take part in the John West Steam pot trial as I have seen these in the supermarket but hadn't tried them. I do usually buy John West Tuna as Tuna sandwiches are a favourite in my house.

I found the Steam pot very qucik and easy to prepare and I like the infusion of flavours in the tuna. I enlisted the help of my two college students kids to try these. They really were the perfect student meal only needing to add boiling water. My daughted loved the Lemon & Thyme but my sons favourite was the Chilli & Garlic. I think these would be great for them for lunch in college or even a snack on the go and €2.99 would be a reasonable price to pay for lunch. They did leave me the Soy & Ginger to try and I liked the aromatic flavour. I love Couscous but it does need added flavour and the Tuna gave it that. The steams pots would be very handy to have in the cupboard for that much neede quick snack.

I think they were a big hit with my older kids and they have asked to to buy some more for them so will have to head off to the tuna section in the supermarket now!

Thanks for choosing me to take part in the trial. I had heard of the John West brand before but not the John West Steam Pots. I really enjoyed the Steam Pots, they were very easy to prepare and very convenient. I had them for lunch and thought they were all really tasty. My favourite one was the chilli one but would eat them all again. I would recommend them to family and friends and would expect to find them along side the other john West products.

Thanks so much for allowing me to take part in this trial.
I had heard of and seen the John West Steam Pots before this trial but had never tried any of them. I have to say i really enjoyed them and i do think they are reasonably priced at 2.99. They are very convenient and very easy to prepare. They are very filling and so ideal for lunch or a quick snack. It's good that they are very filling, as it would stop me from snacking in between meals.
My favourite flavours are the soy and ginger with mushroom couscous, lemon and Thyme with black olive couscous and the Coriander and cumin with lime and coriander couscous.
My least favourite is the Chilli and Garlic with spicy red pepper couscous, this is really though, as i wouldn't be a big lover of spicy foods.
I would expect to find them besde the tinned fish products but i think it would be good also to see it along side where all the quick lunch snacks would be, as i think they would catch peoples attention to them.
I have already recommended them to family and friends. I certainly will continue to buy them in the future.
Thanks again for allowing me to take part in the trial.

Well I finished my last steam pot today and I have to say I was very impressed with all 5 flavours. I had obviously heard of the John West brand before as they are so big, we would regularly have the tuna and salmon as well as the weight watcher fillings. I hadn't heard of the steam pots before and if I'm totally honnest they probably wouldn't be something I would normally pick up - I love tuna and I love cous cous but I don't think I would have combined the two but......... wow they are great! Firstly they are very easy to prepare add boiling water to the line, put the lid back on then 5 minutes later its ready - just add the flavoured tuna. This is great as a busy stay at home mum/work from home on the computer between running around after the kids I often forget to eat then pick at everything in sight as I'm straving. I was able to prepare this inbetween jobs. It was also suprisingly filling. When you peel back the lid before the water goes in, it doesn't look much but its just the right amount.
I liked all the flovours although i think they could have added a bit more flavour to the cous cous but it was tasty. I think I liked lime and corriander best altogh to be honnest i couldn't taste the corriander but the other flavours in the pot were lovely.
I would buy these again and have recommended them to friends and family. I gave one to my husband for lunch today and he really enjoyed it and said it is something he would take to work on the building site as an alternative to a sandwich, for €2.99 you can't go wrong! I think if i was looking for this i'd look around where the pot noodles were kept. Thank you mummy pages and John West for letting me enjoy this trial x

First off, I'd like to thank mummypages and John West for selecting me for this trial, to say I was delighted is an understatement. Im very familiar with the brand John West and the tuna light lunch is a regular visitor to my shopping basket. I have seen the infusions in my local supermarket but was in debate with myself on whether to try them or not. I was disappointed at first when I received the infusions as there was only one yeast free ( as i try to avoid yeast as much as possible as i am a candida sufferer) but ploughed on anyway. I tried the yeast free one first, the lime and corriander and i have to say it was delicious, and quite filing which was great as it curbed my sweet tooth. It was so hand to be able to just pop the water in the pot at lunch time at work and for my lunch to be ready in under 5 minutes. My daughter tried the sundried tomato and basil one and while she loved the couscous, she was not a fan of the tuna at all, as it was in olive oil. Now she is normally an avid eater of john wests tuna in brine, so maybe this could be an alternative option available. I have since tried the other flavours and i found them all extremly delicious, but overall my favourite would just have to be the lime and corriander. I would not hesitate to reccomend these little inventions to my friends and im sure i can make room for them along side the light lunches in my basket. If i was to join john wests excellent panel of inventors, i would suggest the following : 1. Include some more yeast free infusions 2. Create an infusion with tuna in brine rather than olive oil and 3. Create a lower calorie option. Overall i have to say a great buy, thanks again

Hi thanks for including us in the trial. We all love doing these trials in my house but initially when I received the steam pots my heart sank.Whilst tuna is a firm favourite with my family I have never eaten (or wanted to try) couscous. ..........Of course I am forever telling my kids not to say they don't like something before they try it so I couldn't be a hypocrite so on I ploughed...........BOY WAS I SUPRISED-these are delicious. Really tasty meals with a distinct, yet not overpowering, flavour. My favourite was the chilli/garlic tuna with spicy pepper couscous, as I do love my food fairly spicy (although i must add that its not too hot or spicy as my 10 yr old boy also enjoyed this flavour) & hubby preferred the mushroom version.
These are brilliant for lunches at work as they only require access to a kettle as opposed to the many ready meals which require 'blitzing/ nuking' in a microwave & the price point is very cheap as most sandwiches we buy at the local deli are at least E4 or E5....To be honest I would even pay a euro more for this handy, tasty, filling , reasonably healthy lunch (not that I'm suggesting John West increase the price-lol).
They would also be handy for days out, picnics or one of the many Saturday afternoons we spend on the sideline at a soccer/GAA match as you only need a flask of hot water to reconstitute a satisfying lunch....
As i said I had never tried couscous before & I am so impressed that I now have the whole family eating it too -win win......along with a newly found increase in our tuna intake which is of course a healthy choice.
my only criticism is that i usually buy tuna in brine or spring water & I was a bit unsure about the oil content of the tuna.....it may be lower calorie if it were in brine HOWEVER the oil soaked into the couscous when mixed so it did not taste too oily when eaten. .....
I enclose a pic of a note written by my 7 yr old girl (written alone without any influence-lol ) that shows how much she liked them. She was obviously afraid we would forget to send the pre-prepared steam pot into school for her lunch.......I thought it was quite cute & funny (despite her addressing us as 'parents' rather than mum & dad-ha ha)......
Many thanks & these will be a regular on my shopping list.A tasty, easy & healthy lunch for the same price as a latte-brilliant..
