Christmas is steeped in tradition, although they vary from family to family, some of them will never change at this magical time of year.

However, this year why not spice up those age-old traditions? We've got five tips on how to keep the beauty of those yearly customs, but with a much needed modern twist.

And who knows, these might stick and they'll be your Christmas rite of passage from now on.

1. Cookies and Tropicana Festive Orange Juice for Santa

Excitement is in the air as the kids get their PJs on and read some bedtime stories on Christmas Eve. No matter how you choose to unwind for the night before the big man comes to visit - one thing is for certain, you have to leave him some treats.

After all, he’s travelled around the globe (or you’ve spent the last 2 hours trying to assemble a toy kitchen), but either way, it’s thirsty work. So why not update the tradition by offering Santa some Tropicana Orange Juice and homemade cookies, rather than some milk - it’s ideal if you’ve got allergens and a great way to tell the children to stay in bed, as Santa arrives only in the morning (after 7 am) for his OJ, to start his day with a kick of Vitamin C.

2. Christmas eve drinks

If you’re hosting or been invited to Christmas eve drinks, why not add some fire into your cocktails. Everyone will love getting into the party mood with a winter-warming sangria. This combines the delicious festive flavours of pomegranates, cranberries, orange, and cinnamon.

The recipe is really simple and this is what you’ll need; one cup of fresh cranberries, one orange, one cup of pomegranate juice and a pomegranate. Along with one cup of Tropicana Orange Juice, brandy and a bottle of red wine. And don't forget the cinnamon stick to garnish.

It's easy-peasy to put together, but it will no doubt impress your guests. In a large pitcher, stir together the wine, brandy, pomegranate juice, and Tropicana Orange Juice. Add orange slices, pomegranate arils, cranberries and cinnamon stick. Chill in the fridge for two hours, and serve with ice cubes.

3. Night after the Christmas Party

The party season is almost upon us, but since this is one of the busiest times of the year - you won’t have time to nurse a sore head, so you’re going to need something to get you through the morning after.

Did you know that Vitamin C is a great way to revive your body after a good night out? Tropicana contains 60% of your recommended Vitamin C in-take, and is one of your 5 a day, helping to support a healthy immune system.

 4. Christmas day breakfast

Santa has visited, the kids have opened all the presents and the breakfast is just about ready in the background. It’s time to gather around the table and have the traditional Christmas morning breakfast.

The kids will probably be trying to fill up on selection boxes for the rest of the day, so getting a balanced breakfast into them is really important.

Adding a glass of Tropicana Orange Juice will give their immune system a boost, particularly as the cold and flu season is well underway.

5. Smoothie - Christmas day run

If you’re one of those families who enjoys a 5km on Christmas day or goes for a swim in the freezing cold sea every year. We have a fantastic smoothie to help your recovery and will go down a treat even with the smallest of hands in the household.

Take one-quarter cup of any kind of milk, add two tablespoons of frozen Tropicana Orange Juice, one medium or large orange with the peel cut off. Then add half a banana (preferably frozen), a cup of fresh spinach and six to eight ice cubes and blitz. It’s delicious, nutritious and a great way to get the kids involved.
