By now, you will most likely have heard the devastating news that the body of a baby girl was discovered at a recycling facility in Bray, yesterday.

Late last night, local gardaí held a briefing at Bray Garda Station addressing the situation, appealing for the baby’s mother to seek medical help.

The Irish Times quoted Superintendent Pat Ward as he reached out to the child’s parents, expressing his particular ‘concern’ for the health of the baby’s mother.

“It is possible that the baby was stillborn, and if this is the case my priority now is to get all medical assistance and support to the baby’s mum,” he said.

Supt. Ward added: “I am very concerned for the welfare of the mum of this baby, as she is possibly in a distressed state and in need of medical assistance. I would please ask for the mum to seek immediate medical treatment.”

The authorities also offered their assistance to the child’s father and any relatives or friends who may be in distress over the very sad circumstances.

The baby’s body was discovered yesterday morning at the Greenstar recycling facility in Fassaroe. A post-mortem is due to be carried out today to determine the exact cause of death.

Anyone close to the family looking to get in touch with the authorities has been asked to contact Bray Garda Station on 01 6665300, or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
