A mum-of-one is said to be in a critical condition in Beaumont Hospital after she was involved in what is believed to be a hit and run.

Siobhan Geraghty was found lying unconscious near her home at the Lohunda Dale estate, Clonsilla after getting a taxi from Harcourt Street just after 3:30am last Sunday.

The 35-year-old was found by neighbours who describe hearing a “thud” and a car speeding off.

Siobhan was rushed to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown before being transferred to Beaumont Hospital. Here she underwent surgery to reduce “swelling and pressure on her brain”, her brother Senan told the Irish Independent.

A statement issued by the Gardaí today, said: "Gardaí have carried out extensive house to house enquiries and would like to thank the public for their invaluable assistance.”

“Gardaí continue to appeal for witnesses in particular anyone who  may have been in the Lohunda Estate/Ongar Distributor Road area between 3.15am and 4.15am on Sunday morning the 8th May 2016.”

Gardai are appealing for witness to contact Blanchardstown Garda Station on 01 6667000, The Garda Confidential Line 1800 666111 or any Garda Station. They are also calling for the driver of the taxi who brought her home to get in touch.
