We all know that parenthood isn’t always easy. We all deserve to let our hair down from time to time and enjoy life, whether it’s a night in the town or enjoying a bubble bath.
Even an R'n’B queen like Beyoncé needs to have some down time and have some fun. And so, recently, she did; herself and Jay-Z went out for some sushi in Los Angeles at the weekend. The couple shared images of themselves on their date on social media, but one picture in particular had people up in arms.
Beyoncé shared a picture of herself sipping what looks like red wine on Instragram. Some followers were less than impressed by this, with many presuming that she is breastfeeding newborn twins Rumi and Sir. Indeed, nay-sayers were quick to shame the Lemonade singer.
“You can’t drink wine when you’re breastfeeding. What are you thinking?” commented one person.
“Are you seriously drinking while breastfeeding your babies? Get a clue,” another person wrote.
What the critics fail to realise is that Beyoncé never confirmed she was breastfeeding her twins. Plus, if she is, it’s perfectly safe for a mother who is breastfeeding to have a glass of wine in moderation (which is exactly what she’s doing in that photograph).
However, many people are forgetting the most import fact – it's no one’s business whether she chose to breastfeed or not. A legion of the star's fans understand this, and stood up for the Destiny’s Child alum.
“For those who don't know you can drink and breastfeed...you just toss a certain amount of milk, and you also pump and save milk for back-up bottles...give her a break already,” wrote one Instagram follower.
“She will never harm her babies. There's nothing wrong with a mother having a sip of wine to enjoy a nice dinner with her husband. After carrying twins and having an extra stay with them in the hospital, she deserves a little mummy time to be pampered,” said another fan.
“So, if you are her true fan, you wouldn't have all this stupid, angry and negative things to say because she's enjoying a little wine.”
