Gardaí in County Leitrim have launched an investigation this week, following allegations that a teenage girl was raped after a disco last week.

According to the Leitrim Observer, the alleged attack occurred in the grounds of Cartown House, and was carried out by two men.

The incident is said to have occurred on Friday, July 28, after the teen attended a local underage disco.

Local authorities are now investigating the incident, and have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

A statement released this week read: “Gardaí are investigating the alleged assault of a female which occurred on July 28, 2017, at Cartown, Carrick-on-Shannon.

“Investigations are ongoing.”

Anyone who believes they may be able to help the authorities with their investigation is asked to get in touch immediately. You can do so by contacting Carrick-on-Shannon Garda Station, on 071 965 0517; alternatively, you can reach out to your local garda station.
