Glenda Gilson gets candid about lack of sleep affecting her romantic life

Virgin Media star Glenda Gilson has opened up about how motherhood changes her romance with husband of five years Rob McNaughton.

The 38-year-old mum welcomed adorable baby Bobby six months ago, and is struggling with the lack of sleep that generally accompanies motherhood.

The presenter got candid to the Irish Mirror about missing her little one when she attends glamorous events;

“I was judging Mallow Racecourse on Easter Sunday and I left Bobby with my mam and dad but it’s really strange, I feel like when I don’t have Bobby, I’ve forgotten my handbag."

Elaborating on her time away from Bobby, she said herself and her husband were too exhausted to appreciate their night away together;

“Myself and Rob stayed the night in the Muckross Park Hotel. The two of us were so tired that when we arrived there we had to have an hour’s sleep.

“Then we went out for something to eat and we were so wrecked we went back up to bed really early and started googling what to do with your child if they aren’t sleeping," she said.

“We were just googling baby things all night, the romance will have to get back on track," she continued. Herself and Rob have only gotten closer since their lovely baby arrived.

“We’re still great buddies but I don’t know what way we are at 3am when we get no sleep.” As every mum knows, it's difficult to leave your baby for any amount of time.

Gilson said: “You never really stop and I’m on the phone every hour to my mother, but he couldn’t be with anyone better than my own mom and she is kicking me out the door, loving having him.”

The pair enlisted the help of a sleep expert to aid the nights of continuous waking.

“I found the last month has been tough with sleep, Bobby has been waking up a few times a night, I gave in and I got onto Lucy Wolfe, the sleep expert. He’s teething badly but I think he’s just used to waking up a lot, I think it’s habit.”

Despite this, the Xposé star is loving her life as a mum.

“My life is so complete now that he’s here though, I’m not sitting back thinking I can’t do this I’m loving every moment, even the tiredness."

"His personality is great, he’s singing at the top of his voice, it’s more of a scream but he’s enjoying himself.”

The presenter finished filming Ireland’s Got More Talent this month, so will be spending more precious time with little Bobby.
