The Children’s Medical & Research Foundation at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin have launched a national campaign to appeal to women all over Ireland to come together and ‘Go The Extra Mile for Crumlin Hospital’ at the 2013 Flora Women’s Mini Marathon on June 3rd.

One year ago Crumlin Children’s Hospital launched an ambitious campaign to raise €8 million to renovate the cardiac and cancer facilities at the hospital. Since then a fantastic €4 million has been raised.

Dr. Orla Franklin, Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist commented “The first phase of the cancer ward is finished and was handed over to staff, patients and their families last week. This is an incredible achievement and there is already huge excitement in the hospital. Private rooms finally with private bathrooms, a world away from what our patients and their families currently have to endure,”

She continued “We are now appealing directly to women up and down the country to help us raise the remaining €4m to complete construction of these essential new facilities at the hospital. By getting your running shoes on with your friends and family on June 3rd you will help us cross the finish line for Ireland’s sickest children,”

‘Help Us Cross The Finish Line’ is part of the ‘Fix Crumlin’ campaign. This fundraising initiative aims to improve and upgrade the old and cramped wards currently being used to treat sick children in the hospital.
