Great Ormond Street Hospital bosses insist that they cannot go back on their decision to withdraw Charlie Gard’s life support, according to reports.

As support for parents Connie Yates and Chris Gard mounts, with The Pope and Donald Trump adding their voices to the mix, sources claim that the medics’ ‘hands are tied’.

Nevertheless, Connie has insisted that they are holding onto hopes that Charlie will be released from the hospital, so that he can be brought to the US for experimental treatment.

She told the MailOnline.com: “The support from the Pope and the President has given us hope. They are traditional men who believe in the family.

“They believe in our case and understand why we believe it is right to continue fighting so hard to save Charlie.”

Connie’s latest comments come just a day after the family received two potentially life-changing offers for Charlie’s treatment.

An unidentified hospital in the US has reportedly offered to treat Charlie for free, if he can get to the States to receive the experimental treatment.

A paediatric hospital at the Vatican, the Bambino Gesu Children’s Hospital, has also offered to take Charlie in.

The hospital’s president, Mariella Enoc, said: “We know that this is a desperate case and, apparently, there is no effective therapy.”

Yesterday, after acknowledging the support from these key figures in international politics, Connie and Chris called for Prime Minister Theresa May to follow suit and do something to help them.

In the latest update on the ‘Charlie’s Fight’ Instagram account, it was revealed that loved ones are also organising a protest in London.

“We will be posting London protest information soon. The date is Thursday. Time and exact location will be confirmed,” the post read.

“We will have megaphones, banners, horns, signs, posters and will make more noise than we’ve ever done before.

“We will be marching between locations but all information will be up this evening.”

Our thoughts continue to be with Connie, Chris and Charlie, and their loved ones at this time. We hope that there will be some kind of positive outcome for them – and it certainly seems likely, with so many powerful figures sharing their support so publicly.
