Cillit Bang  vs. Fairy Power Spray

We tested two of the leading power cleaning sprays on the market. Other sprays on the market, such as Flash, Cif and Mr. Muscle are all-purpose surface cleaners and don’t make the same claims as these two with regard to cleaning grease and burnt-on food. We used each spray on three typical kitchen problem areas: stainless steel hob, burnt on food in pots and pans and the kitchen sink

Scoring was based on the following criteria:
1. Effectiveness
2. Smell
3. Value for money

Cillit Bang Grease & Sparkle - 750ml trigger bottle (€4.95)
They claim: “developed to both eliminate burnt-in grease as well as remove dirt from work surfaces, hobs, kitchen tiles and kitchen sinks. Its cleaning formula is specially designed for problems of this kind.”
Effectiveness: Worked really well on the hob and sink, but it struggled with the burnt on food. I followed the directions to the letter, but I had to resort to a scouring pad to remove the really tough areas. 3.5/5
Smell: Because it is a power cleaner it has a strong chemical smell and is quite unpleasant. 3/5
Value for money: This product is sold in 750ml bottle for €4.95 (€6.60 per litre). Its quite expensive, but it lasts for months and definitely has superior cleaning power to ordinary kitchen sprays. 4/5

Fairy Power Spray – 375ml trigger bottle (€4.19)
They claim: “easily removes grease spills and stains all over the kitchen and not just in the sink. With 10x easier removal of burnt on grease compared with using normal dish washing liquid.”
Effectiveness: This product worked perfectly on the stainless steel hob and sink. When used on burnt on food it performed extremely well. A little elbow grease was required to remove the last few bits, but with very little effort. 4.5/5
Smell: This product has a strong chemical smell, but not too unpleasant. It smelt like it was working. 4/5
Value for money:  This product is sold in a 375ml bottle for €4.19 (€11.18 per litre). Its very expensive in comparison to Cillit Bang, however, it is very effective. 3.5/5
